Catholic Answers Focus - Why Protestant Arguments for Sola Scriptura Fail
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
As we wrap up our conversations with Karlo Broussard on his book Meeting the Protestant Challenge, he asks: How can the Catholic Church teach that we need Tradition as well as Scripture when the Bible says that Scripture is sufficient? And how can the Catholic Church teach that Scripture is not our sole infallible source for doctrine when the book of Acts praises the Bereans for using Scripture alone to determine the truth?

Lord, If You Had Been There
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
While on vacation in Florida, I had a chance to talk with one of the neighbors, also a vacationer. We talked briefly about baseball, the beach, and getting away from the winter snow, but then the conversation became serious. n this podcast Tony discusses the loss of a loved one and the grieving process.
Scripture: “When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him; but Mary sat at home. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” John 11:20-21
“Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him, “I know he will rise, in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:23-26
“When Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” John 11:32
“So Jesus said to them, untie him and let him go.” John 11:44
Reflections: Does that fact that Jesus wept give you consolation that even He felt the great loss of a friend? Do you need to untie a loved one and let them go free to the arms of Jesus? What is the tomb of your life that has separated you from God?

Footsteps to Heaven - Heroic Priesthood in Today's World
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Episode #57: Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and Cardinal Robert Sarah have co-authored a new book entitled, “From the Depths of Our Hearts”. Ignatius Press editor Father Joseph Fessio in a press release said that book is about, “as Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI describes it in his first paragraph: ‘the lasting crisis that the priesthood has been going through for many years.’ But it is about more than that; it is about the nature of the Church and of Christian discipleship. This is a book that all should read. It is powerful and personal – from the depths of their hearts.”
Terry Modica shares snippets from this book and puts it into the context of what a Good Shepherd is. She helps listeners understand why Benedict XVI and Cardinal Sarah insist that celibacy is essential in the life and ministry of priests. This type of priesthood – the heroic priesthood – is necessary in today’s world, and anything less than that is an abomination of Holy Orders because it harms people’s salvation.

Beneath the Surface - Mary and the New Eve
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
It's fascinating how Mary in Scripture unties the knot Eve helped us get into. She is the new Eve inasmuch as she is the un-Eve that repeats the opposite of her predecessor.
