Footsteps to Heaven - When all seems bleak

Footsteps to Heaven - When all seems bleak

October 17, 2019

Episode #43: When a crisis happens and there seems to be no solution, or when a problem brings darkness and there seems no way out, God has a plan. Jesus as our Redeemer always wants to redeem bad things that happen, turning them into blessings. To find God’s help, we need to trust him. Proverbs 3:5 instructs us to trust him instead of leaning on our own understanding of the situation. Terry Modica explains how to do it by sharing her own recent experience as an example.

Episode #41: What are the tools for defeating demons that Jesus has placed in our hands? With the humble power of prayer, we can do much. The Sacraments give us supernatural graces that conquer the devil. Here’s how to free yourself from the ways the devil has been interfering in your life. Dare to be on the side of Christ so strongly that the devil flees from you.

Good News Ministries has resources to further help with this, including The Prayer of Authority to Conquer Demons, which is a mighty weapon against evil strategies and demonic interference: https://gnm.org/prayer-of-authority/

Footsteps to Heaven - Part 4 Rebuking the Devil

September 26, 2019

Episode #39: Pope Francis points out that “snares are one of the strategies of the devil.” What is a snare? How do good people unwittingly walk into snares and get trapped? Terry Modica shares the story of how the priest who was the first chaplain of Good News Ministries got ensnared by alcoholism and why this eventually destroyed his ministry. She then explains how snares are why the Church is suffering from bishops who have been perpetuating abuses, and why the Church in Germany is pulling away from the authority of the Vatican. Finally, she explains the most important help that God provides for escaping snares.

Footsteps to Heaven - Part 3 Rebuking the Devil

September 23, 2019

Episode #38: When we are not aware of what the Holy Spirit wants to do through us, Satan keeps other people from finding the kingdom of God. Pope Francis said, “There are terrible, terrible, terrible things in the world, and this is the devil’s work against God. But there are holy things, saintly things, great things that are the work of God. There are hidden saints.” When you were baptized, you became a saint. When we become who we truly are in Christ, we can defeat the devil easily. The Holy Spirit makes this possible. This episode includes prayers of renouncing what the devil has done in your life, freeing you to do what God created you to do.

This series uses the book Rebuking the Devil by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops about Pope Francis' teachings on defeating Satan. September 16, 2019

Episode #36: Using the book Rebuking the Devil by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops about Pope Francis’ teachings on defeating Satan, we first look at why there is so much evil in today’s world. Is the devil real? Many believe that evil is created by people making bad choices, and this leaves us vulnerable to being tricked by demons. Your host Terry Modica shares her story of how she was tricked into turning away from Christ by getting involved with the demons of the occult because she didn’t believe they existed.

Footsteps to Heaven – What is Heaven really like?

September 5, 2019

Episode #34: This episode was inspired when Terry Modica and her husband, Ralph, went to the funeral of a neighbor who was a Jehovah’s Witness. The description of the afterlife that they heard from the leader of the congregation was not one that we want to believe in. Terry is joined by Ralph to explain why. Here’s a much better description of the afterlife based on the teachings of the Catholic Faith and the Bible.

Footsteps to Heaven - Intercessory prayer that really works

September 3, 2019

Episode #33: What if while driving down the road you say a prayer for every person that you see along the way. Surely they all need your prayers. Would you intercede for others more often and more readily if you saw your prayers get answered? In this episode, Terry Modica reveals that the real stumbling block is not a lack of fruits but a lack of understanding how intercessory prayer works. By clearing up misconceptions, you can discover greater faith to become a more effective intercessor.

Footsteps to Heaven - The Way of the Eucharist is Out the Door

Footsteps to Heaven - The Way of the Eucharist is Out the Door

August 6, 2019

Episode #28: Part 9 of "Going Deeper into Mass" - THE FINAL BLESSING

What do you think is the high point of the Mass? What is the high point for you? Is it when you received forgiveness in the penitential rite? Is it when you received Jesus in the Eucharist? Or is it the final blessing of the Mass? Everything that happened during Mass is intended not only for our benefit but for the sake of others. In the final blessing, Jesus in the priest blesses us so that we can go out the door and be successful in continuing to live the life of Christ. Think of the Mass as a sort of wedding ceremony, like the renewal of wedding vows. Every Mass is a recommitment of our faithfulness to Christ and a renewal of our openness to his commitment to us. But like every wedding, the wedding day is not the most important day. More important is the marriage that follows.

This concludes the series on Going Deeper into Holy Mass. It will be available to parishes as part of a package for adult faith formation (including RCIA) and small group discussions. Find out more about this at http://gnm-media.org/take-eat-drink/

Footsteps to Heaven - The Eucharistic Experience of Heaven

August 1, 2019

Episode #27: Part 8 of "Going Deeper into Mass" – THE EUCHARIST AND COMMUNION RITE

In this episode, Terry Modica covers the apostolic succession that makes it possible for bread and wine to become the body and blood of Jesus, why Jesus called his blood the new and everlasting covenant, and the dialog we have with Jesus as we receive him. She also answers the question: Why do we pray for Jesus to come “under my roof” just before we receive him in the Eucharist?

Footsteps to Heaven - The Eucharistic Pregnancy

July 30, 2019

Episode #26: Part 7 of "Going Deeper into Mass" – WHEN DOES THE BREAD AND WINE BECOME JESUS?

The Eucharist Prayers of the Mass bring us to the source and the summit of our faith. This is when we receive what we need to live the holy, make a difference in the world and experience the miracles that faith is supposed to provide for us.

At what point during the Eucharist Prayers does the miracle of transubstantiation happen and the bread and wine supernaturally become Jesus? Or – is there just a moment in time? Terry Modica explains how it’s really like a pregnancy.

Footsteps to Heaven - The Offertory Miracle of Multiplication

Footsteps to Heaven - The Offertory Miracle of Multiplication

July 25, 2019

Episode #25: Part 6 of "Going Deeper into Mass" - THE OFFERTORY

During the Offertory, we are offering back to God the gifts and blessings that he has given to us. In thanksgiving, we give God the gift of money to help the Church do the works of Jesus. We give the gift of the fruits of our labors. What has he given you? What are your personality traits, the good ones, which God designed you to have? These are gifts from the God – you were made in his image – and at this point in the Mass, now is the time to thank him for what makes you the wonderful you that you are. You can supernaturally place any of the giftedness of your life on the altar when the priest accepts (when Jesus accepts) the monetary collection. Now is the time to thank God for the blessings in your life by offering them back to him for his use. And thus the gifts are multiplied!

Footsteps to Heaven - The Creed of True Belief

Footsteps to Heaven - The Creed of True Belief

July 23, 2019

Episode #24: Part 5 of "Going Deeper into Mass" - THE CREED

When we proclaim our faith out loud, the devil hears us and knows he has been defeated. This is one reason why we recite the Creed during Mass and why it’s important to not be silent but to pay close attention to the words of the Creed and what they mean. Every line of the Creed conquers lies about who God really is -- God the Father, God the Savior Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit – and also who we are as the Church. In this episode, Terry Modica describes the heresies that the Creed overcomes.
