Tuesday May 12, 2020
Tuesday May 12, 2020
Gene Zannetti owns Winning Mindset, a sport-performance mental training program, and is also the author of Spiritual Strength: Building the Total Athlete for Christ, which has received a Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur.
Once a nationally ranked All-Ivy League wrestler at the University of Pennsylvania, Gene experienced a strong reversion to the Catholic faith following the 33-day consecration to Jesus through Mary. Thereafter, he founded Spiritual Strength, which offers retreats, presentations, and social media spreading devotion to the three hearts and fighting against the world, flesh, and devil.
In this episode we discuss a common phrase within a new context:
"Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you will still be among the stars."
We talked about these books, which we both recommend:
33 Days to Morning Glory: A Do-It-Yourself Retreat In Preparation for Marian Consecration by Fr. Michael E. Gaitley
Marian Consecration for Children by Carrie Gress

Catholic Answers Live - Ask a Priest
Tuesday May 12, 2020
Tuesday May 12, 2020
Have you ever wanted to ask a Catholic priest about an aspect of the Catholic Church?
Questions Covered:
- 08:39 - Why don’t priests talk about death, judgment, heaven, or hell during homilies?
- 16:20 - Is the priest after hearing a confession ever allowed to divulge something that a person has told them?
- 21:42 - I am a Protestant. Don’t Catholics depend on the Sacraments as a crutch, so they don’t have to repent? Isn’t this a good time to repent?
- 28:42 - What is the validity of baptizing a newborn as a layperson if a priest is not available? Will she receive all the same graces?
- 32:32 - What is the official Church teaching on the gift of speaking in tongues? A lot of Protestants claim to have the gift, but it sounds like gibberish to me.
- 35:55 - How do I explain to my Protestant friends that the Catholic Church is the first and true Church of Christ?
- 43:25 - What is your advice for overcoming the extreme loneliness of this difficult time?
- 47:09 - I left my husband because he was physically abusing me, but I am still married because I struggle with divorce. What should I do?
- 49:55 - Is it ever acceptable to have a Mass or a wedding outside?

Tuesday May 12, 2020
How is a Eucharistic Church meant to thrive in a time when public gatherings are not allowed?
Questions Covered:
- 16:55 - What is the Church teaching on how to receive the Eucharist, especially right now?
- 22:01 - Why do Catholics believe that the Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Christ?
- 28:54 - Is there an advantage to watching the live stream of the Mass v. watching it later on YouTube?
- 30:58 - At what point does the Church engage in civil disobedience when it comes to the lockdown? There are so many places open, but it seems like the Church isn’t even trying to compromise. At what point will we just hold Masses again?
- 33:02 - What is the difference between receiving the Eucharist spiritually v. physically and sacramentally?
- 37:22 - Are priests’ hands anointed? Why is Walmart open, but our Church is not?
- 46:13 - Is it true that there will be a tracking system for which people are going to Mass once the Church reopens?
- 50:10 - Can the priests come to us instead of us forming lines to receive communion?

Category: A Biblical Walk Through the Sacraments, Sacraments Tag: Bible reading, confession, sacraments
Where is confession to a priest in the Bible? Everywhere! Throughout the Old Testament and into the New, God demonstrated His desire that we come to him when we fall into sin. Jesus gave the apostles power and authority over unclean spirits, to forgive sins, to heal, and to raise people from the dead, all of which testify to the power and authority in them through Christ. They, in turn, passed that power and authority to those whom they ordained. This power does not come from them, but from God. Confession restores the soul.
