Catholic Answers Live - Weird Questions
Monday Feb 10, 2020
Monday Feb 10, 2020
Questions Covered:
- 03:15 - Is it possible that children are so incredibly happy because of reincarnation? Their spirit remembers the recent experience of being old, and now they’re internally happy to be young again?
- 13:50 - Let us stipulate: One of Paul’s lost letters to the Corinthians is discovered, An additional copy is found with complete textual agreement, A third fragment is located and dated to the mid second century, Scholarly consensus develops that this letter is a work of the Apostle Paul; in essence there is no doubt that the letter is a work of “The Paul”, The letter contains no dogmatic contradictions, The letter offers some additional support for what the Catholic Church terms “Purgatory” and that this support can easily be harmonized with the Eastern concept of “Fore-taste”, Bottom line, it is from Paul and it offers additional on point information, Given these stipulations, would you kindly opine on the following: Would the Church likely call a Council to consider adding the letter to the Bible? If so, do you think it would be added to the cannon? To your mind, what would the various Orthodox communities do with the book? Similarly, what are your thoughts as to what this development might mean to the Protestant world?
- 20:28 - Would a self-aware AI (like Terminator’s SkyNet) have rational soul? If so, would God create the soul the moment it became self-aware? And would that mean once an AI is “on,” turning it off would equate killing it?
- 25:03 - I seem to recall that Colossal Boy was Jewish. Were any members of the Legion of Super Heroes Catholic?
- 31:55 - Is Baby Yoda required to fast, or to abstain from meat on Fridays/Good Friday (according to the discipline of his diocese/rite), if he’s 50 years old?
- 36:12 - If someone were to travel close to the speed of light from Saturday evening to Monday morning, as experienced on earth, such that Monday felt like Sunday, would they be obliged to fulfill their Sunday obligation in what was Monday for us but still felt like Sunday to them?
- 42:20 - Is the Prime Directive ethically defensible?
- 49:50 - When you fast regularly for health reasons, how do you deal with the religious obligation of fasting? If you were going to fast anyway and you were fasting from your own desire, how do you sincerely redirect that intention to God?
- 51:34 - What would be the effects of organ transplants at the resurrection of the dead?
- 52:07 - What would be your opinion on how a faithful Catholic should deal with vampires? Is it morally acceptable to destroy them?
- 53:34 - How much incense is too much?

- 33:03 - How do you honor your parents when they sin against you?
- 37:07 - My kid doesn’t watch TV. I wonder if I am dooming him to be emotionally immature. Is he going to go to college someday and be stunted or watch TV continuously?
- 44:14 – I think I raised successful kids, but not holy kids. They are 35 and 40 now. Is there any way for me to fix this now?
- 47:30 - What advice does Dr. Guarendi have for a recent college graduate to live a good life?

The Frank Friar - Episode 233: A Good Death
Monday Feb 10, 2020
Monday Feb 10, 2020
Lent will be here before we know it. Also, tomorrow is the world day of the sick. All of this plus an episode for another podcast I listen to got me thinking about the concept of a good. This idea and prayer are something old in the mind and heart of the Church even though in our recent times it has been relegated to the side. Today, I speak about the prayer for a good death and a possible action to take during Lent this year.

Sunday Feb 09, 2020
Sunday Feb 09, 2020
Listen up! The Dynamic Deacon, Harold Burke-Sivers joins me this week. You won’t want to miss this episode as we discuss how to live a life of manly virtue. We need to build each up as brothers for the sake of our families and the Church. We must admit to ourselves, starting today, that we need God’s help every step of the way. Being vulnerable does not mean we are weak. It simply means we need Christ every moment of every day. That’s manly strength!

Liturgy Live - 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Salt and Light
Friday Feb 07, 2020
Friday Feb 07, 2020
This weeks podcast we talk about the "proto" beatitudes of Isaiah. How we are called to serve and feed the poor. We are called to purge ourselves of our maliciousness and serve the poor, then we will be light in the darkness. In the second reading we talk about the power of the gospel on its own, no matter our weakness. In the gospel we talk about how we are called to be salt, and we are called to be light.
