Liturgy Live - 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time - Humility in Teamwork
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
This week we talk about The prophesy of Isaiah that can be looked at in three different ways. First and foremost, Christ is the fulfillment of this prophesy. Second, St John the Baptist is God's servant and draws the people out into the wilderness seeking repentance and restoration. Third we are also called to be the light to the nations and to bring salvation to the ends of the earth. Again we discuss the need for us to decrease so Christ can increase in our lives. We talk a lot about how we arent always the hero of our own story, we are sometimes a supporting actor. The roles that we play in teamwork most likely are supporting roles and it is a place to have joy in humility.

Sarah Christmyer "Becoming People of the Word" - Lisa Hendey & Friends #84
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
On this week's show, we dive into the gift of scripture with Sarah Christmyer, Bible expert and author of the new book Becoming Women of the Word: How to Answer God's Call with Purpose and Joy.
About Sarah Christmyer:
Sarah Christmyer is a Catholic author, Bible teacher, and speaker with a special love for lectio divina and journaling as ways to draw close to Christ in Scripture. She is the co-developer and founding editor of The Great Adventure Catholic Bible study program and author or co-author of more than a dozen books and Bible studies. Her latest book is Becoming Women of the Word: How to Answer God’s Call with Purpose and Joy (Ave Maria Press). Sarah serves as an adjunct faculty member at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia and as a board member of the Malvern Retreat House in Malvern, PA. She blogs at ComeIntoTheWord.com.
About Becoming Women of the Word:
In Becoming Women of the Word, Sarah Christmyer embarks on a spiritual pilgrimage through the Old Testament, with each chapter focusing on one particular woman, and in one case, on two sisters. These are ordinary women with ordinary lives. They suffered, they longed for love. They stepped into the gap when men failed them; they worked to bring beauty from the ashes of their lives. Their experiences are still relevant today, despite the miles and years that would distance them. Christmyer introduces each Biblical woman with a related story from her own life, and in doing so provides a concrete connection to their witness.

Art, language, Scripture, and the saints come together in this episode, featuring Katie Woltornist, founder of Behold Visio Divina. In her time discerning religious life with the Dominicans, Katie’s heart was struck by these words from St. Catherine of Siena:
“Be who you are meant to be and you will set the world on fire!”
For Katie, that meant a change of course and trusting in the lessons learned along the way. In time, the Spirit led her to create a workshop that became Behold (first offered at St. Paul Inside the Walls in Madison, NJ, where Lindsay and her husband currently teach Pre-Cana).
We encourage you to give Visio Divina a try through one of Behold’s books, workshops, or their upcoming pilgrimage. To get you excited about it, check out this image, “Jump for Joy,” by Corby Eisbacher, which Katie and Lindsay talk (gush) about in their conversation.
Make sure to follow Behold on Facebook and Instagram, too.
