Charles V of the Hapsburgs bravely defended Catholicism against the Lutherans. At the time almost all of Europe was Catholic.
Listen as in 1527 the Lutherans sacked Rome and killed the Pope. But that was just the beginning of the Church's problems. Those conflicts bought about the dawn of the secularism that rules the modern world.
