CRC P 349 Evangeline - A Catholic Trail Of Tears 4-1-16
Evangeline, the most famous of Longfellow's story-poems was a best seller in its day. It is of interest to Catholics because it is tells the story of British Anti-Catholicism in its most severe form. It describes not only a French Catholic Trail of Tears, but also a story of Catholic colonists deported and sold into slavery. The survivors became the Cajuns of Louisiana. Listen to our forgotten history in these excerpts.
