The Virtue of Magnanimity
Episode 128
This episode is sponsored by CoM member and friend, Nathan Watson.
Magnanimous men don’t allow themselves to become concerned with everything that comes along, but rather only with great things that are suitable for him.
A magnanimous man strives to that which is worthy of the highest glory
To be silent out of fear for what is true is a man who is completely alienated to the virtue of magnanimity
A magnanimous man does not complain for he doesn’t let his heart ponder that which is not great
He is not about the desire of human respect but about his mission and cause on this earth – to become a saint

David Williams, founder of Saint Cards

In the experience of their lives the saints have verified the truth of the Gospel; thus they introduce us into a knowledge and understanding of the Gospel.” It’s important to teach our children the lives of the saints and give them holy men and women to look up to.

Distraction in Prayer (and the episode) – Episode 122
We had a few hiccups on this show. New equipment. New producer. Trying Facebook Live. Perfect storm. We should have it down moving forward – appreciate your patience.
This whole episode is based off a book Adam read every year called, “Ways of Mental Prayer” by Rev. Abbot Dom Vitalis Lehodey.
The Ways of Mental Prayer ranks as one of the Church s greatest classics on prayer, and was highly recommended as such by Fr. Garrigou-LaGrange, the 20th Century s greatest authority on mystical theology.
Here Dom Lehodey concentrates on the beginning stages of prayer, up through what is called the prayer of quiet, but he also describes the higher forms of prayer as well, including the very summit, or the prayer of union. In the process, he explains the advantages, the joys and—yes— the trials of mental prayer, plus he gives practical instructions on the methods of practicing this type of prayer.

Power of Silence – Episode 121
Tonight we discuss “The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise” by Cardinal Robert Sarah.
In a time when technology penetrates our lives in so many ways and materialism exerts such a powerful influence over us, Cardinal Robert Sarah presents a bold book about the strength of silence. The modern world generates so much noise, he says, that seeking moments of silence has become both harder and more necessary than ever before.
