The Frank Friar - Episode 262: Seeds of Goodness
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Today, I am reflecting on words from Bl. John Soreth. In particular, his words in the light of the feast of the Ascension. The seeds of God’s goodness reside in us, so what does that mean for us that journey with Christ? I wrestle with that question in the episode today.

“Hi-yo, Silver! Away!”
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Wednesday May 20, 2020
In this podcast Tony reminisces about the super heroes of yesteryear and how they remained humble and grateful to do God’s work. We explore what has changed today.
Scripture:
“[But] take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them;otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father. When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, so that your almsgiving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you. Matthew 6:1-4
Quotes:
Forget about applause, honors, or awards. Do great things simply because it’s the right thing to do! –Tony Agnesi
Reflection:
What can we learn from the code of conduct of the old 1950’s superheroes like The Lone Ranger?

Catholic Answers Live - Your Bible Questions
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Scripture can be difficult to interpret and understand, so Jimmy Akin is here to help. Callers are welcome with any question on Sacred Scripture.
Questions Covered:
- 02:30 - Where does the Church stand on the documentary hypothesis?
- 11:09 - If natural law is accepted by the Church, is it a part of Scripture or tradition?
- 18:51 - What is theosis?
- 29:57 - How was the book of Esther divided into a, b, and c sections in my Bible? I use the NAB.
- 39:50 - In the Bible, Jesus gave us both his Body and Blood at the Last Supper. Why is it acceptable to only receive the Body?
- 45:40 - Why are there statements in the Bible that seem to contradict each other or seem incorrect? How is the Bible inerrant with this being the case?
- 52:43 - The flaw that I find with documentary theory is what the Jews were doing up until about 700 AD. They were desperately trying to document their oral traditions. There is a section of the Talmud that discusses Jesus’ trial. Different writers contribute to this section of the Talmud, trying to justify some of the things that happened. Do you agree with my assessment?

Josh Holdenried "Napa Legal Insitute" - Lisa Hendey & Friends #103
Tuesday May 19, 2020
Tuesday May 19, 2020
On this week's show, we examine the role of faith-based organizations during times of crisis and beyond with Josh Holdenried of the Napa Legal Institute.
About Josh Holdenried
Josh Holdenried serves as Vice President and Executive Director for Napa Legal Institute. He holds a B.A. in Public Policy Leadership from the University of Mississippi and a Certificate in Applied Religion in Public Policy from Pepperdine University’s School of Public Policy. He is currently pursuing an M.A. at Hillsdale College’s School of Government.
About Napa Legal Institute
Napa Legal Institute (NLI) was launched in 2019 to empower evangelization through corporate education and legal resources for faith-based nonprofits aligned with the Catholic faith. The founders of NLI realized that, as the legal environment increases in complexity, spiritual entrepreneurs will need specific education and timely resources so they may exercise their religious liberty without fear of transgressing the law. This requires a better knowledge of taxes, corporate structures, and a tangle of local, state, and federal labor laws and regulations.

S2 E20 Elizabeth Tomlin
Tuesday May 19, 2020
Tuesday May 19, 2020
Elizabeth Tomlin is an Army wife and mother of three. She is the author of Joyful Momentum: Growing and Sustaining Vibrant Women's Groups (a Catholic Handbook). An attorney by profession, Elizabeth is General Counsel for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA. She helped to establish the Military Council of Catholic Women, which is the women's ministry of the Military Archdiocese in 2010 and continues to serve on the board of directors. Elizabeth speaks often at Catholic conferences and parish retreats across the globe. She is a regular contributor to Salute, the magazine of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, CatholicMom.com and WINE: Women in the New Evangelization. She moderates a Facebook group called Joyful Momentum, which is a community of Catholic women involved in women's ministry. Elizabeth earned her bachelor of science degree in chemistry in 2002 from the College of William and Mary and her juris doctor from the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School in 2010. She lives with her husband, Gregory, and their children at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington.
St Teresa of Calcutta:
"If our work were just to wash feet and give medicine to the sick, our centers would have closed a long time ago. The most important thing in our centers is the opportunity we are offering to reach souls."
I was reading a book of her letters, and it just jumped off the page. I think the world outside of the Catholic church looks at her as a great philanthropist or "do-gooder," and3 while she physically helped many people, that was not her goal. He goal was her vocation, which was always laser focused on bringing souls to Jesus -quenching his thirst for love of souls
This quote made me consider all things I spent my days doing and whether these things were part of my vocation. It made me think pretty decisively about what I was doing merely as a volunteerism versus my vocation.
Facebook - I have a Joyful Momentum Group, and I'm on Facebook and Instagram as my name - Elizabeth Tomlin and I blog at joyfulmomentum.org
