Liturgy Live - Presentation of the Lord - Church People
Wednesday Jan 29, 2020
Wednesday Jan 29, 2020
This week we talk a lot about the people you will find in the church. Those who withstand the refiners fire that is parish life, who wait on the Lord. In the second reading we talk about how Christ suffered and we can find Him in our sufferings. After the Gospel we talk about how there are labels that are self placed or placed by others in the Church and we need to see through them to the actual person and be able to love the person. We can, and are commanded to, love people that we don't agree with. There is a lot of healing to do in Church culture and serving, others who we disagree with will go a long way towards that healing.

Grace and Gratitude
Wednesday Jan 29, 2020
Wednesday Jan 29, 2020
Gratitude and grace, they just seem to go together. Both derived from the Latin word gratis, gratitude is our response to grace. When someone does something unexpected for us we express our thanks with gratitude, but if we have a grateful attitude, we say thank you even when things are expected. In this podcast Tony discusses Grace and Gratitude.
Scripture: “Everything indeed is for you, so that the grace bestowed in abundance on more and more people may cause the thanksgiving to overflow for the glory of God.” –2 Corinthians 4:15
“All good giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no alteration or shadow caused by change.” — James 1:17
Quote: “Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.” –Zig Ziglar
“Celebrate what you want to see more of,” –Tom Peters.
Reflections: Do you see the connection between Grace and Gratitude? What can you do to have an attitude of gratitude? What are you grateful for?

Footsteps to Heaven - The Gift God Gives Everyone for Healing and Renewal
Tuesday Jan 28, 2020
Tuesday Jan 28, 2020
Episode #59: Stressed out? Tired? Suffering from troubles? Jesus said (Mark 2:27), “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” Sabbath rest is a gift from God for our healing and renewal. It’s so vital to our well-being that God commanded it. To keep the day sacred, we need to do more than go to church. We need to make ourselves fully available to God so he can minister to us. Why does the story of creation in Genesis say God rested on the 7th day? Not because he was tired! God doesn’t need to rest. But we sure do. Terry Modica reveals why obeying this commandment is a gift from the Lord. She also explains why our day of rest is Sunday and not the Hebrew tradition of Saturday.

It’s a joy to welcome Tim Lucchesi, stay-at-home dad, director of Chaste Love, and co-host of the new podcast, Home But Not Alone, to the show.
Tim brings us a quote from Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. This quote comes from the 101st talk in the series, given on November 24, 1982, titled “Christ Opened Marriage to the Saving Action of God.” Here’s the short version:
"He (Jesus) assigns as a duty to every man the dignity of every woman."
And here’s the long version:
“Christ, in the Sermon on the Mount, gives his own interpretation of the commandment, ‘You shall not commit adultery’—an interpretation constitutes a new ethos—with the same lapidary words he assigns as a duty to every man the dignity of every woman: and simultaneously (even though this can be deduced from the text only in an indirect way), he also assigns to every woman the dignity of every man. Finally he assigns to every one—both to man and woman—their own dignity, in a certain sense, the sacrum of the person.”
Here, too, is the purported C.S. Lewis quote that Lindsay mentions (which, it turns out, he never actually said; sorry): “You do not have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.”
Learn more about Tim’s ministry at chastelove.org and @thechastelove on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. And be sure to check out Home But Not Alone, co-hosted by Tim and Sara Estabrooks (who we welcomed to the show S2:E1).
To suggest a quote or a guest, follow the show on Instagram, @quoteme_podcast, or contact Lindsay at her website, LindsaySchlegel.com.
If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe to the podcast, leave a review wherever you find your podcasts, and tell a friend.
Until next time, God bless you!

Catholic Answers Live - Open Forum for Non Catholics Part 2
Tuesday Jan 28, 2020
Tuesday Jan 28, 2020
Today is for non-Catholics to ask any question about the Catholic faith!
Questions Covered:
- 04:12 - I enjoy the Catholic faith until about the Middle Ages. How do you reconcile with those bad times?
- 13:08 - Aren’t all presbyters and bishops the same?
- 19:31 - I read Behold Your Mother and love it. My question is, is Eve symbolic or real? If she is symbolic, how can Mary, who is very real, be the New Eve?
- 28:30 - I have been receiving the Eucharist at Mass for 30 years but am a baptized Protestant. I never went through RCIA or officially became a part of the Catholic Church. Am I going to go to hell for this?
- 34:02 - How can Catholics believe in justification by faith and works? It seems like Catholics are less forgiving.
- 41:22 - If the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one person, how do you reconcile that with John 17:3?
- 47:56 - Can you clarify why Catholics confess their sins to a bishop when that is God’s job to forgive?
